Part I – Business Intelligence vs. “the Product”

How often do we hear individuals reference BI in terms of the product…"Business Objects" supplies our BI or "we are a MS shop" or like many, you might have a combination of products in house, all of which are used for 1 of the many offered features in combination with the other applications (also used for just 1 or 2 of the features that can actually support all of one’s needs, if one took the time to learn before buying/building something shiny and new?
I also hear things like "BI=BO" [ Business Objects]…"BI" [Business intelligence]
What do ubiquitous words like ‘business intelligence’ mean anyway ? It is the product or the process or the end user usage of said product that matters?
It is interesting to find out the responses when one reaches for answers. Ignorance is bliss, as they say, but knowledge is power.
